Love & Other Drugs

I love Anne Hathaway, especially since Devil Wears Prada her acting became top-notch. So it's only obvious that I have to watch this show even if it is M18 with many nudity.

& I think, those nudity are actually essential to the meaning of the movie. Jamie, a pharmaceutics salesman who is only eager to lay with different women and wants to be the top with money. Maggie who is a free-spirited artist, confident but dealing with initial stages of Parkinson's disease. Both are contented to use other as partners without any ties and commitment, just for plain sex. Yet they end up opening their life to each other and only realise they are in love, Jamie having to deal with committing to a girl with a disease and Maggie having to find the courage to trust someone again.

I actually cry in the show, which is not often even for chick flicks (& honestly I won't call this show a chick flick because normal teenage girls won't understand it nor are allowed to watch it). I teared when Maggie ask Jamie to give up on her and her possibility of recovery and leave. I cry when...shall not spoil the ending but it is something I am contented with.

Disease is scary and I admire those who stay through. I even heard of a true story (a friend's friend?) of how a guy propose to his girlfriend despite her still recovering from half-paralysis caused by a freak accident of being struck by lightning. The current went through her hand to feet. Thankfully the paralysis was temporal and she recovered...
As I grow older, they realize the importance of commitment and the vow of 'till death do we part'. Attaching yourself (or receiving someone's heart) is not a joke and this movie kinda teach you that.
Teenagers just won't think about all these things and no wonder Anne Hathaway personally commented that the movie is not for young teenagers (other than the nude scenes).

So yes, I really love this movie. :)
Next show which I really want to catch, Burlesque!

I'm done with bidding for the coming semester!
