How to feed the world?

Vastly simplified and too much generalization (it's for kids after all), the message is pretty clear.
A friend told me about the food industry during dinner before and the reason why he became part vegan. Something to do with animal cruelty in commercial farms and things like that.

It is impossible for me to turn vegetarian because I love meat, dairy products and I don't want to create a tension with the eating style of close ones, but I shall strive to eat less meat when I can.

Just one of the small things one can do to support the idealistic notion of fighting poverty I guess. Idealistic but I kind of believe in the possibility of making a small difference. Food is after all, intricately related to poverty and injustice.
