Day 22- What makes you different from everyone else

Merry Christmas!
I smile a lot and that makes me different from most people? However I'm sure in this world, there are others who do a better job in that than me.

Anyway since its Christmas, let me educate my readers on my theology of smiling.

The world needs more smiley people. You see, the ones who laugh the most are mainly young kids who upon reaching adolescence, they starts to emo. As if growing up is a curse. & especially in Singapore, as well as many countries, studying occupies so much of our emotions, giving us the stress that contributes much to the reason of not smiling often in everyday life. When we enter the workforce, we start to become worried about things like finance for marriage, for kids, for retirement, for holidays, yes, something like getting enough money for holiday which is suppose to be a good thing cause worries. So along the way, people stop smiling. Sometimes we strive so hard to be better, to be less ordinary, we lost our smiles along the way. It irks me seeing people of the service industry not smiling. Like damn it, you are serving people, please put that smile on your face please even if you feel that you don't have a pretty smile, trying by itself is as good already.

Let me tell you a real life story of the potency of smiling.

There's this women who lost her love one. Can't remember if the love one is dead or the love one left her. She's works in a shop which really advocate the policy of service with a smile. As much as she has good reason not to feel like smiling, she still continues to smile as she serve the customers. One day, a guy went up to her and ask her out, saying that he always has been a frequent customer and he is amazed at her beautiful, unchanging smile everyday which lifts up his spirit anytime, and he would like to know her better. Apparently, that guy became her husband after some years.

So the moral of the story is not that smiling can help you attract a partner, but that smiling can brighten up a place, cheer people up without words and make people feel easy in tense situations.
Pretty girls/handsome boys without smiles, are just girls & boys who look mean and unfriendly.

Consider making smiling your New Year Resolution for 2011. :)

I think I have a pretty nice Christmas this year. Will blog about it on my tumblr.
